About School of Life Sciences

The history of NCU dates back to Jiangxi Medical College, Jiangxi University and Jiangxi Industrial University which originated from Jiangxi Public Medical College, National Chung-cheng University and Jiangxi Industrial College founded in 1921, 1940 and 1958 respectively. In 1993, Jiangxi University merged with Jiangxi Industrial University to form Nanchang University, a decision made by the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government. In 1997, the Ministry of Education included Nanchang University in the national ‘211 Project’ as a key construction university. In 2004, it became a university jointly constructed by the Ministry of Education and the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province. In 2017, the university entered the ranks of the national “Double First-Class” universities, with world-class disciplines. In 2018, the university became a high-level institution jointly constructed by the Ministry of Education and the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province.

The School of Life Sciences traces its origins back to the Department of Biology of National Chung Cheng University, founded in 1940 by Professor Hu Xiansu, a renowned botanist in China. The College boasts a doctoral program authorized for the primary discipline of Biology and a postdoctoral research station. It also offers:

Master's programs for two primary disciplines: Biology and Ecology.

A master's program for the secondary discipline of Aquaculture.

A professional master's program for the primary discipline of Agriculture.

A professional master's program for the secondary discipline of Landscape Architecture.

The School houses one key laboratory of the Ministry of Education and 5 provincial key laboratories.

Five of its disciplines have entered the ESI global top 1%: Plant & Animal Science, Molecular Biology & Genetics, Biology & Biochemistry, Environment/Ecology, and Microbiology.

In recent years, the College has achieved significant recognition:

Possess strong academic leadership, with pioneering   achievements and outstanding academic contributions recognized by domestic   and international peers in their field; have experience in organizing and   planning major scientific research projects, and demonstrate prominent   overall planning capabilities in research on major strategic issues of   economic and social development; have the planning ability of strategic   scientists in discipline construction and scientific research, and be able to   lead relevant discipline groups to maintain or surpass the domestic leading   and international advanced level.

Discipline   Leading Talents

Unlimited

Possess strong academic organizing ability, with   influential achievements and excellent academic accomplishments at the   domestic leading or world advanced level in their discipline; have active   academic thinking, put forward creative ideas for discipline development, and   be able to lead the discipline to enter the domestic leading position and   strive for domestic leading and international advanced level in the frontier   fields of the discipline. Age ≤ 60 years old.

Unlimited

Possess strong academic ability, with influential   representative achievements in the discipline; have development potential,   put forward innovative ideas for discipline construction, and have the   potential to support the discipline in maintaining or striving for the   domestic advanced level. Generally, should have postdoctoral experience (for   2 years or more) in well-known domestic or foreign universities or research   institutions, have experience in hosting national-level scientific research   projects, and have the potential to strive for national-level young talents. Age ≤ 35 years old.

Remuneration Packages

We offer competitive salary packages and substantial research startup funds tailored individually (specific terms negotiated case-by-case). Additionally, we provide either a furnished talent apartment or a home purchase subsidy. We assist in arranging employment for spouses and offer access to seamless, high-quality educational resources from kindergarten through high school for children. Scientific Research Space Allocation

Category A talents: To be negotiated;

Category B talents: Independent laboratories of 300-500 square meters, with customized remodeling according to research directions;

Category C talents: Independent laboratories of 120-200 square meters, with access to shared large-scale instrument platforms;

Category D talents: Will join the corresponding PI teams.

● Include information on your Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral education (degrees, institutions, dates) and your respective supervisors/advisors.

● List research achievements, specifically:

○ Publications where you are the first author or corresponding author.

○ Research projects where you served as the principal investigator (PI).

○ Patents granted or patent applications under review where you are an inventor.

● Important Note: Do not include unpublished papers in your CV.

2. Word Version of the "Nanchang University Full-Time High-Level Talent Recruitment Recommendation Form": Section V of this form must be completed carefully and thoroughly.

3. Three Letters of Recommendation: These must be sent directly by the referees/recommenders to the Faculty/School email address. Letters must not be submitted by the candidate themselves.

4. Three Representative Achievements:

● For submitted papers: Provide the PDF version of the paper.

● For other achievements (e.g., awards): Include a relevant description/explanatory document for each achievement.
